Two finance giants Visa and Absa have joined hands to launch a mentorship for women-owned small businesses in Africa.
This 2024 She’s Next programme aims to uplift women-owned small businesses through financial support, training and mentorship. Participants are in line to win more than R1 million worth of prizes. The top applicants will also receive training.
Africa Business Communities reports that Visa has already empowered 16 million small businesses globally and allocated $1 million to support SMEs in sub-Saharan Africa.
According to Absa managing executive of corporate citizenship, Steven Zwane: “This partnership represents a natural extension and continuation of the substantial work that Absa has embarked upon to comprehensively understand the unique needs of women-owned small businesses.”
The programme will reach five countries: South Africa, Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal and the DRC
