Vukile Property Fund (JSE: VKE) has announced a new collaboration with Action Breaks Silence to celebrate Women’s Month with a series of empowerment sessions across its malls.
The initiative, which began on Friday, 2 August, ran for two weeks and aimed to impact over 900 women, providing them with a transformative journey of self-discovery.
Action Breaks Silence, founded by Debi Steven in 2016, is a charity dedicated to combating violence against women and girls.
The organisation offers educational workshops designed to engage, educate, and empower communities, focusing on ending male violence and amplifying the voices of women and girls.
Steven emphasised the importance of a life free from fear of sexual and gender-based violence, highlighting the charity’s work in India and South Africa.
“I believe every woman has the right to live her life free from fear of sexual and gender-based violence.
“I was compelled to address the growing violence against women, so I founded Action Breaks Silence to offer training to women and girls at risk of sexual or gender-based violence in India and South Africa.”
This partnership marks a significant community engagement effort by Vukile, which strives to create vibrant shopping environments through strategic collaborations.
Marijke Coetzee, Vukile’s Director of Marketing and Communications and a board member of Action Breaks Silence, expressed pride in the initiative.
“This Women’s Month, Vukile is honored to support Action Breaks Silence, which plays a crucial role in addressing gender inequity and promoting healthy masculinity,” Coetzee said.
The series of events featured workshops on personal growth, empowerment, and practical self-defence training, aiming to foster community and connection among participants.
Coetzee noted that these workshops are part of Vukile’s broader commitment to transforming the property industry, which remains largely male-dominated. “Empowering women is essential for industry transformation,” she added.
The empowerment sessions were held at various locations, including:
- Dobsonville Mall: Kopanong Hall, 3 August, 09:00 – 12:30
