Cape Town — The PRIME drinks founded by international YouTube sensations, Jake Paul and KSI were popular from the get-go, and South Africans waited patiently for the brand to be launched in South Africa.
When it launched eventually, it caused quite a stir in the country, with many rushing to purchase it from their local stores.
With a retail price that was at first set at R500 for a 500ml bottle, South Africans flocked to their nearest Checkers stores on Monday, 01 May where PRIME drinks were marked down to R39.00 a bottle, Kaya 959 reported.

The drink was launched in January 2022 and became the official drink of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Social media was rife with users reviewing the drinks and footage of consumers lining up in front of retailers to get their hands on the popular energy drinks.
Meanwhile, despite the hype around its launch, many schools have reportedly barred pupils from bringing the viral sensation drink to school.
According to IOL, this is due to its caffeine content.
“Several schools across the country have asked parents not to pack Prime in their children’s lunch boxes. In a WhatsApp message to parents, a Durban primary school asked parents to send water or juice instead,” the report said.
