Cape Town – The Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition is set to host the 2023 Agoa Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum, in collaboration with the Department of International Relations and Cooperation.
This event will take place from November 2 to November 4, 2023, at the Johannesburg Expo Centre.
The African Growth and Opportunity Act (Agoa), established on May 18, 2000, aims to promote economic openness and the development of free trade markets in African nations.
Agoa provides significant advantages to African producers in the US market, facilitating exports, encouraging regional investments, enhancing private sector activities, and fostering economic growth in the region.
The 2023 Agoa Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum’s primary goal is to strengthen and broaden trade and investment ties between the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
Furthermore, it promotes regional integration and underscores Africa’s role as a capable global economic partner.
Watch below, as Trade and industry minister Ebrahim Patel briefs the media on the state of readiness for next week’s Agoa Forum.
