Cape Town – Social media users have reacted to Capitec’s online banking platforms being offline since Thursday due to infrastructure problems in its central servers.
Capitec announced via Twitter on Thursday that some of its customers were experiencing issues with their applications, internet banking, and USSD services.
It said that it was doing everything in its power to resolve the problem.
“We are aware that some of our clients are experiencing issues on our app, internet banking and USSD services. We want to assure you that we are on it and doing everything possible to resolve the issue. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience. ATMs and cards are working,” said Capitec in a tweet.

However, more than 24 hours later, the Bank that it had not been able to fix the issue.
“We’re still experiencing an infrastructure problem in the central servers that support our banking channels,” said Capitec on Friday.
