Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa is on Tuesday set to host President Xi Jinping of China on a State Visit to commemorate 25 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
The visit will coincide with the 15th BRICS Summit set to take place on 22 – 24 August 2023.
The relationship is guided by a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) with a Ten-Year Strategic Programme of Cooperation (2020 – 2029).
The leaders will discuss deepening cooperation and partnerships, addressing trade imbalances, promoting sustainable foreign investment, and collaborating on regional and global issues.

China is a key trading partner and investor in South Africa, involved in infrastructure projects and job creation.
The visit is expected to result in signed agreements and memoranda of understanding, emphasizing socio-economic cooperation.
The leaders will also co-host the China-Africa Leaders’ Roundtable and engage in multilateral cooperation discussions.
