Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to address the South Africa–China Business Forum as part of his State Visit to China and participation in the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in Beijing from September 2 to 5, 2024.
The visit, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, aims to strengthen economic ties and cooperation between the two nations.
Ramaphosa will be accompanied by several Cabinet Ministers and provincial leaders as he champions South Africa’s economic diplomacy.
“China is South Africa’s largest trading partner globally, while South Africa is China’s number one trading partner in Africa. Total bilateral trade grew from R614 billion in 2022 to R692 billion in 2023,” the Presidency said in a statement.

On September 3, he will visit Shenzhen, a key economic and technology hub, to engage with industry leaders and explore opportunities for collaboration.
His address at the South Africa–China Business Forum on September 4 will focus on enhancing bilateral trade and investment, further solidifying South Africa’s position as China’s top trading partner in Africa.
The visit highlights the deepening strategic partnership between South Africa and China and seeks to advance shared goals in industrialisation, technology, and sustainable development as outlined in the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
