Cape Town — The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) confirmed the final fuel prices for March, with slight reductions expected across all fuel grades.
As motorists wait with angst before the confirmation of the final fuel prices for the month, the DMRE said both 93 and 95 unleaded will be reduced by 7 cents per litre. Diesel (0.05%) will decrease by 17 cents per litre, while Diesel (0.005%) will decrease by 23 cents per litre. Illimunating paraffin is also expected to drop by 6 cents per litre, TimesLIVE reported.
These new prices are attributed to the rand appreciating against the dollar, while the international price of petrol and paraffin also increased in this time.
Despite the minor price reduction, it brings an end to four consecutive months of fuel price increases.
The new prices will come into effect as of midnight on 5 March and are as follows:
Inland:
- Petrol 95 unleaded: R22.34
- Petrol 93 unleaded: R22.09
- Diesel 0.05%: R20.17
- Diesel 0.005%: R20.20
Coast:
- Petrol 95 unleaded: R21.55
- Petrol 93 unleaded: R21.30
- Diesel 0.05%: R19.37
- Diesel 0.005%: R19.45
