Johannesburg – Eskom announced early on Friday morning that it has suspended loadshedding following the recovery of 2,015 megawatts (MW) of generation capacity and a projected decrease in electricity demand.
The power utility cited sufficient emergency reserves and improved system stability as key factors behind the decision to halt rolling blackouts as of midnight.
“Planned maintenance continues to ensure system readiness for increased winter demand, to meet regulatory requirements and to ensure environmental compliance,” Eskom said in a post on social media platform X.
The utility further committed to restoring an additional 6,000MW of generation capacity by next Tuesday as part of its broader efforts to stabilise the national grid ahead of the colder months.
Eskom added that it would issue its daily Power Alert later today or provide further updates should the need arise.
