Cape Town – France has confirmed that it has removed South Africa from its controversial red list barring incoming travel.
In a statement on Thursday, the Consulate-General of France in Cape Town said that all vaccinated travellers would be allowed to enter France with their vaccination certificates.
“South Africa has been removed from the scarlet red list. Vaccinated travellers can come to France provided they show their vaccination certificate and a negative PCR or antigen test (-48h). No quarantine required for vaccinated travellers,” the Consulate tweeted.

France had responded to the identification of the Omicron variant in South Africa by banning travel from southern African countries.
It joined the UK, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the US in restricting flights from the region.
The International Relations Department’s Clayson Monyela also confirmed the news that France had since removed South Africa from the red list.
