Cape Town – Head of Generation at Eskom, Phillip Dukashe has resigned from the power utility amid the current load shedding crisis.
In a statement, Eskom said that Dukashe has been part of the utility for 26 years, however, he only filled the Head of Generation position for just a year.
Dukashe cited a critical need to achieve a balance for the benefit of his health, family and work responsibilities as the reason for his resignation.
Rhulani Mathebula will replace him as acting generation head in the interim.

“It is with regret that Eskom announces the resignation of Phillip Dukashe, Group Executive for Generation. A true, loyal asset to Eskom and the country, Mr Dukashe’s last day will be on 31 May 2022. In his resignation letter and discussions with Eskom executives, Mr Dukashe has cited the critical need to achieve a balance for the benefit of his health, family and work responsibilities,” said Eskom in a statement.

According to Mail & Guardian, the news comes as Eskom announced the possibility of load shedding through winter due to the system being overloaded during the evening peak period.
Eskom proceeded to cut the power across the country from 17: 00 to 22: 00 on Monday and Tuesday after a week of load shedding.
