Cape Town — Andre de Ruyter has accepted a request by the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) to provide more information regarding the allegations he made during his eNCA interview in February.
Scopa received a letter from ANC Member of Parliament Bheki Hadebe at the beginning of March, requesting that the committee urgently invite the former Eskom CEO to share more information.
After tabling Hadebe’s letter, Scopa resolved to invite De Ruyter to engage with with the committee on the allegations he raised regarding corruption, theft, maladministration, sabotage, lack of consequence management, cartels and other financial irregularities at Eskom.

In his response, De Ruyter, through his legal representatives, indicated that he will present a written submission to the committee on the issues he raised and that he was agreeable to appearing before it at a date to be determined by the committee.
“The committee believes that it is important for it to engage with Mr De Ruyter on these issues in line with its constitutional mandate of holding Eskom accountable on matters related to the financial administration of the power utility, including the procurement of goods and services,” said the committee’s media officer, Faith Ndenze.
