Cape Town – Minister of Electricity Kgosientsho Ramokgopa on Tuesday expressed confidence that the end of load shedding in South Africa is near, echoing President Cyril Ramaphosa’s optimism.
He defended government and Eskom’s efforts during a post-State of the Nation Address debate, saying that interventions in place would collectively add 2,580MW to the grid in 2024.
Ramokgopa also conveyed a message regarding the symbolic Tintswalo mentioned by the president in his address.
“I want to say as your honest uncle, uncle Sputla, I know of your anger, I feel your pain, and I understand your cries, that load shedding is contracting and closing your capabilities,” Ramokgopa said.
