Cape Town – The City of Johannesburg’s power utility, City Power, has resolved the issue of frequent two-hour load shedding that arose after taking over from Eskom at the end of 2023.
The utility had initially cited technical problems for the new load shedding blocks, which were split into 2-hour blocks after the previous 4-hour blocks.
City Power has now announces that customers will experience extended periods without load shedding.

The utility said it will return to 4-hour blocks during higher stages of Eskom load shedding, aiming to eliminate the problem of successive 2-hour blocks that occurred frequently during higher stages.
This change is expected to provide a more predictable schedule for customers, City Power said.
