Cape Town – Motorists will face higher fuel prices starting January 1, 2025, due to increases announced by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources.
Petrol 93 octane will rise by 19 cents per litre, and unleaded petrol 95 will go up by 12 cents.
Diesel prices will increase by 7.5 to 10.5 cents per litre, depending on the grade, while illuminating paraffin will drop by 13 cents per litre. Liquefied petroleum gas will see a 13-cent-per-kilogram hike.
The price adjustments are attributed to a weaker rand and higher oil prices.
“The slightly higher oil prices during the period under review. The Minister has approved the restoration of all the fuel pricing zones that were affected by the closure of the port of Port Elizabeth to the original Magisterial District zones with effect from the 1st of January 2025,” SABC News quoted spokesperson for the Mineral Resources and Energy Department Robert Maake as saying.
