Cape Town – The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic), along with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and the National Empowerment Fund (NEF), is set to host the second Black Industrialists and Exporters Conference at the Sandton International Convention Centre on March 20, 2024.
The conference aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information about the achievements, challenges, and opportunities of the Black Industrialists Programme since its initiation in 2015.
The event will feature an exhibition showcasing products from Black Industrialists, and an awards ceremony recognising those who have significantly contributed to South Africa’s industrialisation, job creation, poverty alleviation, innovation, and transformation efforts.
The Black Industrialists Programme seeks to increase the participation of black South Africans in productive enterprises across key sectors of the economy.
President Cyril Ramaphosa graced the inaugural event held in Sandton in 2022, where he formally inaugurated the conference and subsequently presented certificates to deserving and distinguished Black Industrialists across different categories.
During his keynote address, President Ramaphosa characterised the conference as “an opportunity to reflect on progress in advancing redress and equity in the South African economy”.
The event attracted over 1 300 delegates, including 800 black firms.
