Cape Town – Actress Khanyi Mbau took to Twitter during the week to address concerns from The Wife viewers, who feel that season two of the show has lost the plot.
Khanyi plays the role of “Zandile” on the popular Telenovela which is based on a novel which goes by the same name and is authored by Dudu Busani-Dube.
Since its debut on ShowMax, The Wife has set a cult movement in the pop culture scene, with viewers glued on their screens every Thursday when new episodes are aired.
Khanyi feels that the viewers’ complaints are valid and “we have let you down”.
“We have let you down, we have not given you what you anticipated. A love story between Zandile and Nkosana. That’s what we all hoped to experience,” she writes.

Khanyi says that the show has become more of a crime drama instead of its original love story.

She says that “season two didn’t give us enough love, and companionship from Zandile and Nkosana and that’s why you are all so disappointed, I am too”.

Khanyi says the reason season one was so popular was because of the authentic romance that the viewers could relate to.
