Cape Town – Media personality Anele Mdoda’s thoughts were with the eight women who were gang raped in Krugersdorp, as many South Africans commemorated Women’s Day this week.
The eight young women were part of a crew that was shooting a music video when they were attacked by armed suspected illegal miners in Krugersdorp late last month.
They were reportedly stripped naked and robbed of their personal belongings and the women were raped.
Anele took to her Twitter page and said women were “in hell”.
I wonder if the 8 women who got gang raped are having a happy women’s day? Please spare me any well wishes on this day. We as women are in hell. We are burning and men say it’s not that hot. I wonder how hot it has to get. Don’t wish me anything mna. Leave me alone.

Many of Anele’s followers shared her sentiments and blamed the government for not doing more in dealing with the rife gender-based violence incidents.

Exactly how I feel and we’ll have government officials giving speeches about how woman are empowered and free as if we don’t have the highest rape stats in the world.
