Cape Town – American TikTok and Twitter users are dragging South African stars for their wigs on Netflix’s Young, Famous & African.
According to The Citizen, Young, Famous & African is a reality series that focuses on a group of young, affluent and famous A-list media personalities. It follows them as they navigate their lives.
The show premiered on March 18. It features the likes of South African rapper Nadia Nakai, Nigerian superstar 2Baba, broadcaster Andile Ncube, businesswoman Zari “The Boss Lady” Hassan, media personality Khanyi Mbau and Metro FM DJ Quinton “Naked DJ” Masina.
The show got tongues wagging for its drama. However some audiences, particularly American, couldn’t help but notice the “bad quality” of the wigs worn by the show’s female stars.

“What’s up with these wigs? These are the worst wigs I have ever seen in my life. Now I’m only in the first 12 minutes of the first episode but I’m horrified and traumatised. I’ll never put a wig on… ever again. My feelings are hurt. Now, Love and Hip-Hop ain’t got nothing on this show. Love and Hip-Hop is pretty bad with the hair, but this takes the cake,” said American Tik Tok user Champ Bailie.

In a follow-up video, Bailie filmed a montage featuring Khanyi Mbau, Nadia Nakai and Annie Idibia as examples of wigs which she said looked like they were “straight from the beauty supply” store.
