Cape Town – Trevor Noah showcased his comedic talent by impersonating his mother, Patricia, during the Netflix Is A Joke comedy festival in Los Angeles, which ended this weekend.
Born to a Xhosa mother and a white Swiss father, Trevor shared humorous anecdotes about his upbringing under Apartheid’s mixed-marriage law.
He humorously depicted his mother’s perspective on Mother’s Day, emphasising her daily role as a mother.
“If my mom was here, it would be an hour of her telling us how blessed she is,” he told the crowd.
“She’d say: ‘Honey, I’m your mother every day. I don’t need a day to be your mother. Every day is Mother’s Day…don’t ever forget that! You are going to give me one day to remember. I’ll give you one day to forget!”.
Have a blessed mother’s day.

In previous instances, Trevor joked about his mother, including after winning an Emmy Award, where he playfully assured her of his victory.
Despite being labelled as coloured in South Africa, Trevor identifies as black due to the circumstances of his birth during Apartheid, as detailed in his memoir, “Born A Crime”.
Throughout his career, Trevor has incorporated his racial background into his comedy, using humour to navigate complex issues.
