Cape Town – South African comedian Mongezi ‘Tol Ass Mo’ Mahlangu recently opened up about a difficult period in his life which led him to “multiple suicide” attempts following false rape accusations levelled against him by Lerabo Moloi.
Tol Ass Mo was cleared and acquitted of all charges levelled against him by the South African Court in August.
The comedian admitted that his wife Mome had caught him hanging from the ceiling in their garage, as he talked about the impact the rape accusation had on his life during the latest episode of Podcast and Chill.
“My wife had to catch me a few times hanging from my ceiling in my garage. Took the horse’s noose and I hung it on my neck. I was attempting suicide multiple times,” he said.

Mo’s career took a knock and received public backlash after model and actress Lerato Moloi alleged she was raped by the comedian in 2014.
According to The Citizen, In 2018 Lerato claimed that Tol Ass Mo sexually assaulted her while working on a television production in Paarl in the Western Cape.
She issued a statement in 2020, revealing that the incident occurred in 2014.
“For many years, I have been battling to find the courage and support to speak up against a number of acts of violence which have happened to me,” said Lerato in a statement at the time, as quoted by the report.
