Cape Town – DJ Maphorisa received a warm welcome when he gave an interview on Metro FM, where he was surprised with a musical performance of his hit song ‘Asibe Happy’ featuring Kabza De Small and Ami Faku by the Singers of God Music Academy choir.
Producer Tbo Touch posted a video of the choir, with the words “The Amapiano King” written across.
“That’s right we hanging out with The Scorpion Kings on the #thetouchdown 3-6p.”

According to TimesLIVE, DJ Maphorisa spoke of his venture into the genre in 2018 when he studied the sound by attending gigs by Kabza and other artists who were playing with it at the time.
Although Maphorisa has been labelled a gatekeeper in the music industry, he’s continued to make strides.
Previously defending himself against naysayers, Maphorisa tweeted that no-one owned the amapiano genre.
“I see you don’t get it. No-one owns amapiano. Anyone can do it and win. Good example, look at Uncle Waffles. One trending Adiwele video, the rest was history. She did it alone. And look at Costa Titch. He is doing it alone and winning. Stop saying I am a gatekeeper,” he wrote.
