Cape Town – The scenes at late rapper AKA’s funeral were heartbreaking as attendees struggled to contain their emotions while the body of one of South Africa’s most iconic artists was laid to rest.
Police confirmed that the rapper was shot dead outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on Friday night.
“What we can confirm for now is that a well-known musician, 35-year-old, and his bodyguard who is said to be 34 years old were shot and killed on Florida road on Friday night.
“The musician and his security detail were leaving after supper… so as they were leaving for their vehicles, two unknown gunmen came from across the street and opened fire on them,” police said.
The rapper was laid to rest after a private ceremony at the Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg.
