Cape Town – South African media personality Somizi Mhlongo has thanked musician and friend Kelly Khumalo for being loyal to him.
This comes after the former Idols SA judge was recently booked for an exhibition cooking event at Zimbabwe’s popular Garwe restaurant.
However, he was denied entry into the country at the last minute because he is openly gay.
The Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe and the ruling Zanu-PF youth league organised a campaign to prevent Somizi from entering the country.
The church council expressed its displeasure in a letter to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s office, requesting that Mhlongo be barred from entering the country.

In a bid to replace Mhlongo, the Garwe restaurant invited Kelly Khumalo who initially accepted the invite.
However, after learning the reason for Mhlongo’s absence from the same event, the songstress declined the invitation.
Somizi took to Instagram to share a cute video of them having a great time.
He wrote a touching message to Khumalo, thanking her for her unwavering loyalty.
“DEDICATION POST…..hayi shem wena Miss LOYAL i know how sensitive ur when ot comes to loyalty….and u have proven so many times what the word means.”

“Kelly Khumalo …..ngiyavuma….I love u…..and i hope u will never ever doubt that id also do the same for u,” Mhlongo wrote in an Instagram post.
