Cape Town – Media personality and SA Idols judge, Somizi Mhlongo has dismissed allegations that he paid R1.5 million lobola for his alleged new fiancé, Pholoso Mohlala, and that they are preparing to get married.
The media personality recently announced on his reality TV show Living the Dream with Somizi that he had “met someone”.
City Press alleged that Somizi and his new bae were set to walk down the aisle in September.
According to the report, Somizi paid the lobola during the long weekend of March 19 at Pholoso’s home in Hammanskraal.
But the former Metro FM host rubbished the claims in a video on Instagram, saying it was obvious that “City Press has become a tabloid….and trash”.

He said that he was “heart sore and hurting” but acknowledged that the publication got one thing right.
“Yes I know Pholoso, he is married and he’s got a wife who’s pregnant and we are just friends,” he said.
He said that the article had put him in a dilemma where he now had to explain to the two men he was currently dating.
“I’m currently seeing two people. One has money and the other doesn’t so I have to explain to them what is going on. I was still going to choose between the one who has money and the one who doesn’t have money…. but now City Press has ruined my plan,” he said.
He jokingly added that because his plan was ruined, he was now going to marry the publication’s editor and that the wedding would be published on the front page.
