Cape Town — Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi, has sent a message of appeal to all South Africans to help those affected by the devastating floods in Cape Town in any way possible.
The Springboks are currently in Durban ahead of a mouthwatering fixture against Ireland, whom they beat 27-20 at Loftus Versveld last week. While Kolisi and the team’s focus is solely on the game today, he took time out to send a message of support to all those affected in Cape Town and he urged people to help those who desparately need it.
“Hello everyone! It’s Siya with the Springbok team in Durban. We just want to say our thoughts are with every single person in Cape Town. We are thinking of you, that you are not too affected and that everybody can be safe,” he said.
Speaking like a true captain, he asked the country to come together and unite to help those who are in need by offering time or resources and he added that the team is thinking of everyone back in Cape Town.
“We’re here playing in Durban, there is not much we can do other than hope everything settles down. So, let’s help each other, let’s stand together and let’s unite, let’s fight this together and let’s help those who can’t,” he added.
“Thank you so much, we appreciate the support that you have given us but we will support in whatever way that we can. Thank you so much,” he concluded.
The storm has had a huge impact on the lives of many people living in Cape Town and the broader Western Cape, with disaster management teams hard at work to help residents.
