Cape Town – South African TikToker and musician, Khanyisa Jaceni seems to be stamping her transition from being a social media star to a full-blown musician, with the release of her second EP, Halfway.
The content creator shot to fame in 2021 when she went viral for her videos for covering songs and giving them some church flair.
According to IOL, Khanyisa’s content was inspired by her need to bring something different in order to grow her following.
“How are we going to be different? Because one thing you don’t want to do is do what everyone else is doing.

“So I was like, okay, let me see the approach and where I’ll go with it. And that’s where the inspiration came from. I was like, let me make covers, but in isiXhosa.
“I then decided, okay, let me make even my whole channel about it … I later realised that okay, maybe not as often, but it really was a thing of ’this is cute’. I love this. And let me do it.” the report quoted Khanyisa.
Known for her BottomLine catchphrase, the verified Tiktoker now raked about 2.4 million fillers and more than 55 million likes on the platform.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE on her rise to fame, the singer said her large social media following had been beneficial to her but the scrutiny that came with it was something she wasn’t prepared for.
The report said that in her latest EP, the content creator reflected on the struggles she encountered in her journey to stardom and how she overcame them.

“I let people’s opinions get the best of me, because they were very opinionated about everything in me … Social media got the best of me, but now we’re not stopping. I picked myself up in the midst of making this EP and ensured that I keep going. I was on the edge of giving up, thinking I’m not cut out for this but then I looked back,” the report quoted the singer as saying.
She added: “Fame comes with it’s pressures, it’s just like any other job. no money comes from free, there are those days where you are really demotivated and you have to push yourself to work … it looks all fun — but it’s very costly on my mental health and that’s why I prioritise my mental health before anything else.
“I get bullied almost every other day and discover someone that doesn’t like me, so you need to constantly reassure yourself.”
On keeping sane amid cyberbullying, the singer said she stayed away from negativity, avoided triggers and kept her head up.
News24 said the EP was a six-track soulful amapiano project featuring vocal collaborations from Lady DU, Sir Trill and Sino Msolo and producers such as Kabza De Small, Marcus MC, Da Musiqal Chef and Tycoon.
“I hope you do relate or see yourself in maybe all of or some of the songs,” Jaceni said in a press statement.
“I can’t wait to share these stories with you guys,” the report quoted her.
