Westminster Abby – Footage of the Queen’s coffin in Westminster Hall has gone viral after a Royal Guard was captured collapsing while guarding the coffin of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen will lay in Westminster Hall until funeral proceedings begin on Monday.
ITV, in a breakdown of the guards’ roles in guarding the Royal coffin, reports that a rotation of bodyguards will keep 24-hour surveillance of the coffin, broken down into four six-hour shifts.
With strict rules and procedures that come with being a Royal Guard, it would be hard to imagine one’s self-being non-reactionary in a situation such as this.
According to Kaya959, royal protocol dictates that the guards are not allowed to break formation nor move while they are on duty. Furthermore, they can not let out a sound.
After collapsing, the guard was assisted and a stretcher was brought out. However, he denied the stretcher, got up swiftly, shrugged himself off, and returned to duty like nothing was the matter.
