Cape Town – News broadcaster eNCA mistakenly announced the death of singer Kelly Khumalo instead of the late Winnie Khumalo, who passed away on Tuesday after a short illness.
The error caused outrage, especially from Kelly, who expressed her anger on Instagram, calling the mistake reckless and disrespectful.

“@encanews you may hate me or even think less of me. However, this is very reckless, ignorant and disrespectful — not only to me but to those who love and care about me, especially my kids. Put some respect on my name,” she wrote.
Fans and celebrities supported Kelly, condemning the news outlet’s insensitivity.
eNCA’s news anchor, Shahan Ramkissoon, later apologised for the mistake, clarifying that it was Winnie Khumalo who had passed away, not Kelly.
