Cape Town – South African-born comedian Trevor Noah has opened up about the difficulties he encountered when he took over as host of The Daily Show in 2015.
In a wide-ranging interview with 60 minutes host Lesley Stahl on CBS, Trevor shared many of his experiences – from his career to his personal life.
Asked how it was when he took over The Daily Show from Jon Stewart, and whether it was a good decision, Trevor answered:
“Terrible initially… Oh, I mean everybody hated me. People didn’t even know me and they hated the idea of me.”

Noah also spoke about “real hate” that he was exposed to when he moved to America.
“There’s a lot of hate in America because there is a lot of anger in America. For me, it’s figuring out how do I speak to someone who hates me,” he said
