Cape Town – Thursday last week marked Trevor Noah’s last day as host of The Daily Show, and although he is endeared by many South Africans, Americans have taken a great liking to the comedian, as demonstrated by the affectionate farewell he received from big names such as Oprah Winfrey, Hilary Clinton and more.
During his tenure on the popular show, Trevor not only put South Africa on the map but perhaps revolutionised the way people on the Western side of the world perceived South Africa and its people.
It was probably not uncommon for Americans to think that lions roamed freely through the streets of the country, let alone look down upon a nation that has bright people with talents and ideas that could take the world forward.
After seven years at the helm of the show, Trevor announced in October that he would be leaving. However, the comedian will continue to enlighten people around the world by educating them about SA and showing what Mzansi has to offer through his work as a stand-up comedian which he wants to spend more time committing to.
The Daily Show took to Twitter to upload a video of various influential American people saying their goodbyes to Trevor. Amongst those sending messages of farewell were Oprah Winfrey, Hilary Clinton, Jesse Williams and Nick Offerman.
