Cape Town — South African rapper Nadia Nakai has shared an intimate revelation about her relationship with AKA, saying that they were meant to be together as their relationship was one from God.
Nadia revealed this during a recent appearance on L-Tido’s podcast.
The two officially became a couple in March 2022.
Nadia opened up on various topics, shedding light on her connection with AKA, their path to becoming a couple, and the emotional turmoil she experienced following AKA’s untimely passing.
She said she was concerned about the speculation surrounding their relationship at the start but said she and Kiernan felt it had to be God that brought them together.
“What were people going to say, and with Kiernan coming out of what he had gone through. I was also concerned about that, is it too soon, does he need time? My mind was all over the place. I didn’t know what to do, but fortunately both of us believed for us to get together from were we were coming from, the most opposite sides of the spectrum, the only thing I thought was it had to be God,” she said.
Nadia continued and spoke about AKA’s death, saying she was performing at an event and had spoken to him just 10 minutes before he died.
She said when she heard the news that he was shot, she did not believe that it was fatal and that the last thing she thought was that he died.
Nadia also touched on her relationship with the Forbes family, Kairo and DJ Zinhle. She expressed how grateful she was for her relationship with Kairo and that she is still close to her and Zinhle, who accepted her being around Kairo and her relationship with AKA.
According to TimesLIVE, Nadia has been picking up the pieces. Taking to her Instagram stories, she said life without AKA was still peculiar for her.
“So many spaces I’m in where I can’t help but imagine you in them,” she posted.
“I can’t wait to get to the point where I think about you and smile, and not think about you and hold back my tears.”
