Cape Town – Several Mzansi celebs have jetted off to New York City, for the Shisanyama Weekend.
According to The Citizen, this festival ranks as one of the largest Southern African cultural events, in North America.
Further reports highlight a weekend filled with authentic Southern African cuisine, live music, and a vibrant atmosphere.
Podcast and Chill duo, Sol Phenduka and Mac G, announced on Instagram back in January, that they would be part of the star-studded line-up for this year’s festivities.
South African media personality Somizi and music veteran DJ Tira, joined them for the event.
“Get your plane tickets ready 🚀 We will be rocking the United States this coming June 🔥 Secure your spot for this year’s US Shisanyama”, read the promotional posts caption.

Taking to Instagram, DJ Tira gave his fans a glimpse of the festivities, sharing a video of the crowd singing iconic soccer song ‘Asambe Nono‘.

Mzansi’s golden-boy Somizi, has also posted a few clips, offering fans a sneak-peak of the celebrations that happened in the States.

Sol Phenduka shared some extra light on his thoughts surrounding New York City, while showcasing some of its most-iconic buildings, including the New York State of Mind, Empire State Building and Times Square.
“What Jozi could have been, what Durban could have been with proper leadership. Beautiful to see old buildings from the 1900s still functioning, still pristine, and clean. Anything can happen with leadership” he stated in one clip.
