Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu was crowned Miss Universe, with Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira coming in as the first runner-up.
Mswane’s participation at the Miss Universe pageant was surrounded by controversy.
Some South Africans believed that she should have boycotted the competition due to Israel’s claimed atrocities against Palestinians, while others believed that beauty pageants should not be politicised.
