Cape Town – After AKA’s impressive showing at the Metro FM Music Awards where he scooped four of the prizes, Lynn Forbes warmed fans hearts with her heartfelt speech in honour of her son.
The Forbes family were on hand to accept all four of AKA’s awards that he won at the Metro FM Music Awards with mom Lynn, dad Tony and daughter Kairo in attendance.
As the family stepped up on stage, Tony handed the mic to Kairo, who started singing on stage, trying to get the audience involved too. Despite being very emotional over the moment, Lynn gave a thank you speech on behalf of her son.
“First things first, I got to give thanks, all protocol observed, to the Big Man. Kiernan, you make us so proud. We have come full circle from the very first time you were in this city in 2011 for your first Metro FM awards. To the family, the friends, and everybody that has been there to support Kiernan, thank you so much.”

Kiernan’s dad Tony also said a few quick words afterwards, thanking all those involved in the collaboration process and thanking Kiernan for his hard work and discipline that he always put into his work.
Soon after, the Forbes family and AKA’s girlfriend visited AKA’s grave where they posed for pictures holding each of his awards won on the night.
Posting the pictures on social media, Lynn wrote a lengthy caption giving thanks to her son, praising his team for their efforts and also taking time to thank Kairo and Nadia for their influence on her son’s life.
