Cape Town – Celebrity chef Lorna Maseko has been appointed as the Executive Chef for South African Airways (SAA) for the 2025 fiscal year.
She announced the partnership on social media, revealing that she had designed the airline’s menu, which features a selection of dishes rooted in South African culture and heritage.
Lorna shared a video showcasing the menu and her face in chef’s attire.
“I’m so proud and excited to announce that I’ve partnered with our national carrier, South African Airways, to create a menu for this fiscal year,” she wrote.

The process involved creating over 30 dishes, with Maseko emphasising the intricate details involved in in-flight meal preparation.
“There were a lot of dishes to create, and Chef Mandla and the team are absolutely amazing. I wanted to create a menu that was proudly South African and grounded in my heritage and culture.
“Each dish is obviously quite intricate and detailed, and I really wanted to celebrate the African continent as much as possible. So the team sits down and tastes everything.

“There are so many intricate details that go into menus that are on flight, and it’s quite an interesting process. I learnt so much through all of this, I can’t wait for you guys to experience this,” she said.
The menu will be available to business class passengers on long-haul and domestic flights. Maseko has previously appeared as a judge on the Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay Holiday Throwdown.
