Cape Town – South African singer, Lerato Moipone Molapo, best known as “Lira” has taken to Instagram to show her followers that she is doing well, uploading a video of herself on a “truly beautiful” cruise in the Eastern Cape after getting onto a plane for the “first time in 7 months”.
Lira is recovering from a stroke she suffered while away for a performance in Germany. The stroke affected her ability to communicate.
However, things seem to be looking up for the artist, as she took a trip to the Eastern Cape to see the sights.
“First time I have been on a plane in 7 months, and I chose to go to St Francis in Eastern Cape. Here I’m on the canal cruise- it’s truly beautiful. They have exquisite restaurants – the food there is quite awesome,” she said in an Instagram post.

At the six month mark in her journey to recovery, Lira shared a post on Instagram in which she reflected on her road to recovery, expressing her gratitude and her happiness.
“Can you believe it’s been 6 months – how time flies. The second and third frame is where I used to be at! I am feeling like myself yet I’m still on my recovery journey. It’s going to take some time- but it’s reversible!
“This process has been fascinating for me and although it’s quite challenging at times, I am happy.”
She highlighted the blessings in her life, at the same time reminding her followers that even having the ability to draw breath each day – something we take for granted – is a blessing.
“Just to be alive each day is a blessing. To be among friends and loved ones is a precious gift. Many of you have been rooting for me and your support has meant the world to me!”
