Cape Town — South African actress and media personality Khanyi Mbau has been trending following an old video of hers that resurfaced on social media.
The video was an interview that she did with broadcaster Deborah Patta.
During the interview, things got heated between the two as Patta claimed she would not want her children to be like Khanyi.
“Quite frankly, I don’t want my kids to be like you, You give motivational talks?, what possibly can I learn from you?”

In the heat of the interview, fans latched onto Khanyi and her skin tone. In the interview, she appeared much darker than her current appearance due to her bleaching her skin a few years back.
Khanyi has addressed the issues about her skin tone before and said women should embrace the beauty regime they were happy with, TimesLIVE reported.
“Being black doesn’t mean you have to look black. Being black is a state of being. Being black is a sense of spirit. Being black is a sense of how you think and how you see yourself but it doesn’t mean you have to look indigenous. Why are we living in a world that won’t allow us to explore and be who we want to be?” she said.
Mzansi reacted to the video, not so much for the content, but more so for Khanyi’s much lighter complexion, drawing many comprisons with Micheal Jackson
