Cape Town – Media personality Thando Thabethe and South African rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes trended on social media on Monday following a somewhat awkward live interview on 947FM.
Thando had apparently invited AKA and musician Costa Titch as her guests after the duo recently released new music together.
Things got a little tense when Thando asked AKA about the death of his fiance Anele “Nellie” Tembe who died earlier this year.
Anele fell from the tenth floor of the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town.
Seizing the opportunity of having AKA in the studio, Thando asked the rapper to address “the elephant in the room”, referring to any developments into Nelli’s case.

“We have to speak about the elephant in the room. You had a sit down with one of our own, Thembekile Mrototo, and a lot of people felt like you said nothing in the interview.”
“Do you feel a need to say anything about the incident?,” Thando asked.
To this, AKA responded: “You wanna call it an incident. This is my life, bro. To you, it’s an incident.”
Thando continued and asked AKA to speak about the experience after the incident.

And AKA replied: “what if I don’t want to?” It’s none of your business. It’s nobody’s business but my own. It is something I am living within my life. It’s none of your business.”
At the end of the interview, Thando gave AKA the middle finger before high-fiving it out and laughing it off.
Twitter was split about the matter, with some saying that the question should not have been even on the cards, given that AKA was on the media run for his joint album with Costa Tich, and not to address his fiance’s death. Some, however, maintained that Thando was right, as she was merely doing her job.
Take a look at some of the Tweets:
Thando was clearly doing her job, but I strongly believe a person should be prepared for such a sensitive & emotional question.. would you answer such question if you were in AKA’s position? ambushed like that? His interview with Thembekile was good set up, how it should be done

He was rude because Thando was insensitive. Imagine addressing such a sensitive issue ebe ore ke “elephant in the room” Gaona “sorry for your loss” nor how you holding up? https://t.co/U1aA1WUIpX

I get that Thando is doing her job but some things deserve a little more human decency.
AKA is a public figure but he is still a human being who is probably still grieving.
He’ll talk when he’s ready and if he never does just move on.

Insensitivity is very obvious in the entertainment industry, Thando is not the first nor the last person to ask such questions either way, she really didn’t have to but scoop ke scoop, akere?
