Cape Town – South African social media influencer Mihlali Ndamase has spoken candidly about what it’s like to be dating a man going through a divorce.
Mihlali has faced a lot of controversy from fans and social media users about her relationship with businessman Leeroy Sidambe.
She has since made it clear that when they started dating, Leeroy was going through his divorce and that is still the case today.
“He is not divorced legally but it’s a long process. We’ve seen people file for divorce but still continue with their lives and they do get into relationships. That’s the situation my partner and I are in, that’s the reality of things,” she said during an interview on L-Tido’s podcast.
“I’ve watched and let people say whatever they want, because I am not going to be clarifying a situation. I am dating him. Everything else I feel I do not have a right to speak on,” she added.
Mihlali and Leeroy celebrated their one-year anniversary in March.
“The relationship, it’s been great. I’m happy. He treats me like a queen. We really get along. I love my man,” she said.
She also spoke about claims that she influenced South African women to demand wife and girlfriend allowances from their partners.
According to East Coast Radio, Mihlali made headlines in 2021 when she revealed that she gets an R50 000 girlfriend allowance.
She was chatting to Boity on her YouTube channel when she made the remarks.
“Many moons ago, I once had a girlfriend allowance, and shame it was cute. He used to give me R50k a month. I was so happy,” Mihlali told Boity at the time.
When asked by L-Tido asked what she thinks is a sufficient girlfriend’s allowance, she said:
“I’ve never put a gun to a man’s head and said he must give me a girlfriend allowance… What’s a sufficient girlfriend allowance for me? I don’t necessarily have a figure to be quite honest. I do work, I do make my own money, I’m very comfortable with the money I make. A man can walk into my life and walk out and not shake anything for me.”
