Cape Town – South African media personality Lasizwe Dambuza has announced the end of his journey as a YouTube content creator.
He said the decision came after he struggled with depression and mental health issues.
Last year, the content creator checked himself in a mental health wellness facility after sighting he had been depressed for months.
Lasizwe recently shared the news on his Twitter timeline along with a video that explained his decision.
He also shared his future plans.
“I would like to thank everyone who has supported me on my YouTube Journey, but it is the end,” he captioned his tweet.
In the video, he said he’s had a difficult time and had to take some time to focus on his mental well-being.
“I think we all saw it coming. Last year I hit the brick wall. I became so depressed I landed up in hospital, I had a mental breakdown and I decided to choose myself. Not knowing how I’m going to sustain myself, not knowing how I’m going to live it was tough.
“I decided to stop doing YouTube for a year, just to figure out what’s going on with me. Learning that I’ve grown and you’ve watched me grow,” said Lasizwe.
He also announced a new plan that was still in the pipeline, the African Network Channel.
Although he didn’t give much detail, he said the channel was sitting at zero subscribers and he hoped to take it to a million subscribers by the end of the year.
