Cape Town – It’s not every day that a performer does a rendition of a famous song and gets praise from the singer themself but that was exactly the case for Idols SA contestant Nozi Sibiya.
Sibiya did a rendition of Jennifer Hudson’s hit song from 2008, Giving Myself.
Hudson was so amazed by the performance that she took to Twitter to praise Sibiya.
“Okay I’m a little late, but y’all need to hear this. Nozi on Idols SA performed my song Giving Myself. If I was there she would have caught a shoe. She did that,” Hudson tweeted.

Hudson has previous Idols experience after she was placed seventh in season 3 of American Idols in 2004. That was the foundation for her glittering career where she has become an acclaimed singer and actress.
Nozi took to Instagram to share her excitement at Hudson’s post.
“I’m lost for words. Thank you Lord I’m humbled to have an icon like @iamjhud share my video. You are worthy of all praise!,” she wrote.

Nozi first entered Idols SA in 2016, where she failed to make it beyond the first cut. She credited her mother for playing a big part in encouraging her to enter the competition once more.
