Cape Town – The public’s response to the song Lemons (Lemonade) by Nasty C and AKA has indicated that the pair have put South African hip-hop back in the spotlight.
‘People say hip-hop died; that’s nonsense’ was one of AKA’s lyrics in the song, and the video Nasty C shared on his Instagram proves that AKA was right when he said this.
The couple, who performed a hilarious version of Lemons got something other South African artists dream of: a feature on Nast C’s social media platform!
The video starts off with the lady giving the baseline as her partner hops on it with “everything’s alright” as the opening lyrics. Things really start to heat up when the lady comes in and lays her verse with her opening lyrics being, “set up the table/ open up the socks/ open the window”. Her partner hilariously says, “no socks” during her verse.
“Nah I love them,” Nasty C said on his Instagram page.

Deservedly, the recognition they received was not only limited to Nasty C’s Instagram page, but AKA took to Twitter to share the video as well.
“What a smash. Lol,” the artist tweeted.
