Cape Town – Even celebrities can be starstruck by each other – that was the case for award-winning DJ and producer Black Coffee and singer Simmy met for the first time recently.
Simmy had never met Black Coffee before and when she finally got the opportunity, fellow musician DJ Sbu was on hand to document the moment.
In the video, Black Coffee said that he had heard a lot about the singer and also revealed to her that a friend of his in Germany was also a fan.
“I just met her for the first time. I’ve been hearing her music, I’m a big fan. I went to see her perform in Durban on December 25 … there’s a friend of mine in Germany who is a big fan,” Black Coffee said.
DJ Sbu then asked Simmy how she felt to hear what Black Coffee had just said: “I don’t know what to say… but hey, I’m standing next to Black Coffee,” she said nervously.
“@simmymusicsa & @realblackcoffee meet for the first time , while @sunelmusician quietly hides himself in a little corner like he ain’t nobody,” DJ Sbu wrote in the caption.

Never one to hog headlines for anything but her music, Simmy has previously shared her thoughts on fame.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE in 2019, the singer said despite the fame and success of her music, to her family at home, her fame is not a big deal.
“Having a sister who was in the music industry kinda normalises things at home. My family is aware I’m doing music and they hear me on the radio, but I think they are surprised when people scream when they see me and they always ask ‘what’s happening now?’. So that’s the way things are for me at home.”
The singer added home was where she found peace and she keeps the two worlds separate.
