Cape Town – DJ Maphorisa has defended himself against calls for cancellation after the release of the song Amalanga Awafani, which did not credit Samthing Soweto.
“It was recorded in my house. He owns the whole master … if you want to cancel a person, you can cancel me, I’ll bounce back. I’m strong, I believe in myself,” he said.

I think artists should stop recording in this brother’s house. His house is a problem🙄 pic.twitter.com/lijpv72Vul

Maphorisa claimed that Soweto did not contribute significantly to the track and accused him of poor business practices.
He said that Soweto’s attitude and handling of his business have caused friction.
Maphorisa asserted that Mas Musiq, who was also involved, had tried his best under challenging circumstances.
Soweto has responded to the situation publicly, expressing frustration over the release without his prior knowledge.
