Cape Town – South African rap heavyweight Cassper Nyovest performed the song Monate Mpolaye at his friend DJ Sumbody’s funeral service on Saturday.
The song was a collaboration with Sumbody, Thebe and Vettis.
DJ Sumbody, whose real name was Oupa John Sefoka, died on Sunday morning last week while traveling on Woodmead road in Johannesburg.
Unknown gunmen sprayed his vehicle with a hail of bullets, killing him and one of his bodyguards instantly.
Police in Gauteng said in a statement that they were searching for suspects and investigating circumstances that led to the shooting.

“You could be brutally honest with him and he wouldn’t take offence. No matter how much you fought with him, he wouldn’t change how much he loved you. I’m going to miss you, I love you,” said Cassper.
