Cape Town – Former Isibaya actress Gcina Mkhize is trending after a video surfaced online showing her refusing to vacate her home, which was sold at an auction.
The video, shared by Ntsiki Mazwai on X (formerly Twitter), features Gcina arguing with Tevin Mashila, who bought the house at a Johannesburg auction in October 2023 after Mkhize allegedly failed to keep up with her mortgage payments, The South African reported.

Mashila claims he is the rightful owner and intends to renovate the property, but Gcina has refused to move out, citing previous harassment from intruders and financial struggles, the report said.
According to TshisaLive, the actress, who bought the house in 2015 for R1.2 million, defaulted on her mortgage payments due to a loss of income in 2021 and owed about R200,000 when Mashile purchased it for R701,000.
Gcina refuses to leave the house, insisting she will only move out if ordered by a court.
Mashile has begun refurbishing the property while she still resides there.

Gcina argues that Mashile should not have bought the house knowing it was occupied and vows to fight for her home.
Mashile, now the registered owner since January 2024, offered Mkhize alternative accommodation, which she rejected, the report said.
“The lady doesn’t own the house; I own the house. I’ve given her alternative accommodation but she refuses. I have never harassed her; I just want my property. I bought the house, which was available on the market, and I was not at fault for that.
“She’s been living in that house for about nine months with no intention of leaving. I will continue renovating the house with or without her. If she maintains she doesn’t want to leave I will take legal action, but it’s something I can’t afford now,” Mashile was quoted as saying.
He plans to continue renovations and may pursue legal action for eviction.
The dispute has sparked public sympathy for Gcina, leading to a fundraising campaign to help her save her home.
