According to the BBMAs, the finalists are based on key interactions with music fans, as well as album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring, and social engagement, tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The awards are based on a 12-month reporting period.
The BBMAs are one of the biggest music award shows, along with the MTV VMAs and EMAs, and being nominated is an honour for any artist. Leading the way is Country artist Zach Bryan, with 21 nominations in 18 categories, while Taylor Swift has 17 nominations in 16 categories.
Tyla has the same nominations as global rappers Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone, while she received more nominations than Sza, Bad Bunny and Karol G.
