“They were ambushed and that is ambushed that is the best way to put it. They coupled up; four guys came out of nowhere, stopped them, and shot them in their heads. They fought as much as they can, and the guys shot them. I can’t confirm how many they were in the car yet, but this happened at Dube, Soweto,” said Nhlanhla.
According to TshisaLive his family has asked for privacy as they come to terms with his devastating passing.
SlikourOnLife wrote on his Hip Hop website that DJ City Lyts discovered his love for rap music at Yoeville Primary School as he participated in school activities such as Hip Hop & Pantsula dance groups and also partaking in the school choir.
He said at high school, he formed a hip-hop group called Flipside. This is what kicked off his career with performances at club events such as BlackOrchard and Club Keys.
The Hip Hop industry has been sending in tributes.
DJ Citi Lyts was the brother of the late award-winning rapper Linda “Prokid” Mkhize.
