Cape Town – South African-born comedian and The Daily Show host, Trevor Noah, has reportedly sued a New York-based orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Riley Williams III, and the hospital for Special Surgery over an alleged botched surgery last November.
According to Independent, Trevor’s lawyer, Justin Blitz of Schulman Blitz LLP filed the lawsuit on his behalf on November 29 in the New York County Supreme Court.
In his claim, the 37-year-old television host cited negligence by the doctor and hospital.

Trevor underwent the surgery in November 2020 surgery, according to documents reviewed by Law and Crime.
Amongst other things, Noah claimed that he wasn’t treated in a careful and skillful manner, approved methods were not used in treating him, he also wasn’t prescribed proper medication nor was he told to discontinue certain prescription medications. He was also not informed of the risks, hazards, and alternatives to the treatment.
As a result, Noah suffered a serious “personal injury that is permanent, severe and grievous”.
The hospital’s public relations team acknowledged that it had received Noah’s complaint saying: “We have shared with Mr Noah’s attorney a detailed rebuttal to the claims, which are meritless,” according to IOL.
It remained unclear, however, what type of surgical procedure Noah received.
